A Guide to Natural Makeup for Mature Skin

A Guide to Natural Makeup for Mature Skin

As we gracefully embrace the journey of aging, our approach to makeup should reflect our inner radiance and confidence.  Often, ladies discontinue using makeup as they age, simply due to uncertainty about the appropriate approach for their evolving skin. In this guide, we will explore refined makeup techniques tailored for mature women, ensuring a natural, radiance appearance every time.

  1. Begin with Well-Hydrated Skin:
The foundation of any makeup routine for mature women is well-hydrated skin. Having a consistent skincare regime is really the miracle for  your makeup looking amazing. Use nourishing serums and moisturisers to nourish and prepare your skin. Hydration is the key to a smooth canvas that allows makeup to blend seamlessly.
  2. Brighten Up Under Eyes:
Concealing dark circles and puffiness under the eyes is not always best as in some cases concealing this area can make it look worst. Use a lightweight, hydrating concealer if you need to, or i recommend to use Morgan Annie Mineral Cream Foundation lightly to brighten this area, making you look refreshed and awake. Make sure this area is hydrated.
  3. Less is More When It Comes to Your Base:
Avoid heavy foundations that can settle into fine lines. Opt for a lightweight, buildable foundation. I prefer more 'satin finish' Cream Foundations as i find these work beautifully on top of nourishing skin care. These products provide coverage while allowing your natural skin texture to shine through.
  4. Never Settle for a Face Makeup Product That Doesn't Match Your Skin Tone:
Matching your foundation to your skin tone is non-negotiable. Test shades in natural light to find the perfect match. A mismatched foundation can create an unnatural contrast that we want to avoid. In my 30 years of being a makeup artist, I find blue base foundations suit a lot of mature skin tones due to hormonal blemishes and uneven skin tones (redness). And remember, to match to your decolletage not just your face.
  5. Use a Flattering Shade of Blusher:
Blush is your best friend for adding warmth, radiance, and a pop of color to your complexion. Choose a shade that complements your skin tone and apply it to the apples of your cheeks for a youthful flush. Cream blushes often work well for mature skin, providing a subtle glow. And i highly recommend Morgan Annie Cream Multisticks.
  6. Go for Fuller Brows:
Fuller brows can frame your face beautifully. Use a cream base brow butter  to feather into your brow to fill in sparse areas and define your brows. Avoid overly harsh lines (which you tend to get when using pencils) and aim for a soft, natural appearance. Beautifully softly defined brows can take years off your look.
  7. Dab Some Gloss/Lipstick on Your Lips for Added Volume:
For a finishing touch, focus on your lips. If your lips are dry, applying lipgloss for some shine lifts your whole face. Avoid dark, matte shades that can make your lips appear thinner. Opt for rosy pinks/ blue base pinks, plums or neutral shades that enhance your natural lip color.

Natural makeup for mature women is a celebration of confidence and timeless beauty. By following these seven tips, you can create a makeup routine that enhances your features. Remember, beauty is ageless, and with the right techniques and products, you can feel fabulous at any stage of life.
